It's been awhile. My camera is still in the shop. So, Jennifer snapped some of the action up with her phone. Here we go.
These are from this past weekend. What started off as a simple stripping and painting the porch uncovered so many problems we had to tear a lot up to repair it. We actually put something ON the house this time instead of just taking it off!!
To make a long story short, we had to prop the porch up, remove the decorative part underneath, then replace a post to give the porch support. Jennifer dug most of the hole for the footer, and our neighbor, Dave Phillips, came over to help us move the behemoth of the old footer (shown below with bricks encased in the cement).
All the while we had to fight off these nasty hornets that were living in the ground underneath the porch and in the holes in the sidewalk. They are huge and they were eating cicadas and bees. That was enough to piss off Jennifer who commited insecticide last Sunday. She was mostly successful.
